I am very passionate about digital marketing, and I am currently struggling to find a place where I can obtain real value and learn the ins and outs… what institution, college, university, or course do you reccomend taking that can qualify me to obtain a position in this field and get valid certification for an employer? I believe he is alluding to the fact that those employed in digital marketing roles are increasingly required to have experience and ability in all areas.

I originally graduated in English, with the intention of developing a career in copywriting/editing. Yet all the entry level marketing roles I’ve held so far have required me to work across the board in digital content creation and management: writing, editing, graphic design, animation for online ad banners, content management, SEO, running social media campaigns, website design, market research and data analysis.

My current role also requires an increasing amount of work that would normally fall into the ‘web development’ category, and I’m now enrolled on various courses to learn more about the programming side of things.

I have become a jack of all trades, with an ever growing list of technical skills that I hadn’t considered when first setting out in the marketing field. An ‘artistic scientist’ is therefore an excellent description of digital marketers these days.
