{"id":149344,"date":"2020-03-17T16:45:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T16:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/?p=149344"},"modified":"2020-03-17T16:57:07","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T16:57:07","slug":"coronavirus-impacts-uk-shoppers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/ecommerce\/coronavirus-impacts-uk-shoppers\/","title":{"rendered":"How do UK shoppers feel about Coronavirus?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Chart of the week: 25% of UK shoppers polled by RetailX have reduced or completely stopped shopping 'in person at physical stores' while 5% report a temporary increase<\/h2>\n<p>Data gathered by <a href=\"https:\/\/internetretailing.net\/covid-19\/retailx-coronavirus-consumer-confidence-tracker-21109\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RetailX<\/a>, on Wednesday 11 March, indicated some small but significant changes in customer behaviour due to growing Covid-19 concerns.<\/p>\n<p>As well as a reduction in shopping in person, the report found the UK public already cutting down on leisure activities, eating out and attending large work-related events.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/av\/uk-51918932\/coronavirus-what-does-the-latest-uk-advice-mean\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Prime Minister's new Coronavirus approach<\/a> outlined on Monday 16 March, we are currently witnessing increased changes to online and offline consumer behaviour.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-151277\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/COVID-changes-to-consumer-behaviour-550x367.jpeg\" alt=\"COVID changes to consumer behaviour\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/COVID-changes-to-consumer-behaviour-550x367.jpeg 550w, https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/COVID-changes-to-consumer-behaviour-700x467.jpeg 700w, https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/COVID-changes-to-consumer-behaviour-150x100.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/COVID-changes-to-consumer-behaviour-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/COVID-changes-to-consumer-behaviour-250x167.jpeg 250w, https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/COVID-changes-to-consumer-behaviour.jpeg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Consumer analytics are only as useful as the context we afford them. This same group of 1,000 UK participants was also asked about current online shopping habits.
