In my case, and for many others this is WordPress. I love WordPress, but there was one big step backwards compared to my previous Plone CMS; the lack of a built-in markup language to make it easy to enter text without using HTML or fiddling around selecting formating and linking with the buttons using a mouse. I did check a couple years ago, but there were no suitable plugins for a multi-author blog.<\/p>\n<p>But my problem is solved thanks to a tweet from Paul Boag (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/boagworld\">@Boagworld<\/a>). Now I can edit without any distractions, without using the mouse!<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"whatisamarkuplanguage\">What is a markup language?<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bywordapp.com\">Byword<\/a>, the editor I\u2019m using uses a syntax called <a href=\"http:\/\/bywordapp.com\/markdown\/syntax.html\">Markdown<\/a>. You can see it\u2019s easy to add headings, lists and links and then in a\u00a0couple of keystrokes and you can convert this\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/v2.smartinsights.com\/guides\/conversion-optimisation\/improving-results-from-your-website-7-steps-guide\/attachment\/5686-revision-6\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6213\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6213\" title=\"Markdown1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Markdown1-600x489.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"489\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>to this\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/v2.smartinsights.com\/guides\/conversion-optimisation\/improving-results-from-your-website-7-steps-guide\/attachment\/5686-revision-5\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6212\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6212\" title=\"Markdown 2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Markdown-2-600x505.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"505\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and you\u2019re ready to paste into WordPress and post. It\u2019s like magic!<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"whicheditorsenablemarkupsupport\">Which editors enable Markup support<\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019m using <a href=\"http:\/\/bywordapp.com\/markdown\/syntax.html\">BywordApp<\/a> for Mac, but there are plenty of others including this <a href=\"http:\/\/jrmoran.com\/playground\/markdown-live-editor\/\">Web service<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.writemonkey.com\">WriteMonkey<\/a> for Windows.<\/p>\n<p>I hope this helps someone save a few minutes everyday.
